Microsoft clarified its position on the exclusivity of Bethesda Softworks games on PC and Xbox

Microsoft and Bethesda Softworks during the Bethesda Joins Xbox – Roundtable online conference said that the purpose of the acquisition of the latter is to provide exclusive games on platforms that have an Xbox Game Pass service.

Xbox head and Microsoft CEO Phil Spencer said he listens to podcasts and reads all questions addressed to the corporation about Bethesda Softworks. At the conference, he decided to explain his position on exclusive games as clearly as possible.

“Obviously, I can’t sit here and call every Bethesda game an exclusive because we know that’s not the case. There are contractual circumstances that we will fulfill in each of the relevant cases, ” – said Spencer.

Spencer continued that Bethesda Softworks has games on other platforms – support for them will continue. In the case of new projects being released, contractual obligations may also apply. Also, the game will not be exclusive if it is historically released on other platforms. In other words, The Elder Scrolls VI and potential Fallout 5 are likely to receive a PlayStation release. But with Starfield, things are not so simple.

Besides, Spencer gave an important update on Bethesda Softworks’ PC and Xbox exclusive games in development: “If you’re an Xbox customer, I want you to know that this is about bringing you great, exclusive games that will be released on platforms where there is a Game Pass, and that’s our goal. That’s why we do it

Finally, it became known that this summer, there will be a conference dedicated to games from Microsoft and Bethesda Softworks. Also, the corporation announced that Roundhouse Studios and Alpha Dog are jointly developing an as-yet-unannounced project.
