Microsoft confirms plans to release Xbox Series X refrigerators
Many will probably remember the full-fledged Xbox Series X-style refrigerator that Microsoft sent out to several celebrities as a marketing gimmick back in October, ahead of the new consoles’ launch. Well, it seems that those who wish will be able to buy a miniature version of the same refrigerator, unless, of course, we are talking about a protracted April Fool’s joke.
Yesterday, April 1, Twitter Marketing conducted a poll asking viewers to vote on which producers post the best tweets. It was the finale of the Best of Tweet competition – the culmination of a month of polls. Skittles and Xbox were in the final vote, and Xbox Marketing Lead Aaron Greenberg wrote that if the Xbox wins, the company will release true Xbox Series X mini-fridges.
Yes, the date is not right to believe such claims. But Mr. Greenberg claims this is not a joke. April 2 came, and he promised to see it through to the end. The Xbox won the Twitter poll by a small 0.6% margin, and the marketer pledged, “We will move forward on our promise to make these Xbox Series X mini-fridges a reality. ” He also said that the company would fill the first refrigerator with games and send it to Skittles to demonstrate good sportsmanship.
Of course, this is still about marketing and promoting the Xbox brand. But mini-fridges can be very popular. And who knows – maybe in the future we will know Microsoft as a manufacturer of stylish refrigerators, not consoles?
