Microsoft fixes a bug in Windows 10 that caused a blue screen of death when using a printer
Last week, Microsoft released another cumulative update for its Windows 10 software platform. However, users who installed it soon started complaining about the appearance of blue screens of death (BSOD) when trying to send a document to print. Later, the developers recognized the problem, and now an emergency patch has been released to fix the BSOD cause when using the printer.
According to reports, the printing issue occurs in several cases after installing cumulative update KB5000802 for Windows 10 20H2 and Windows 10 (2004) and older versions of the operating system for which updates were released last week. It consists of the fact that when trying to print something on the printer, the OS crashes, and a BSOD appears in front of the user with the error code APC_INDEX_MISMATCH and an indication of the win32kfull.sys file. The problem affects only a part of Windows 10 users, but it manifests itself when using different manufacturers’ printers.
As a workaround for the problem with printers, it was suggested to uninstall the latest cumulative update. Now you don’t have to do this since Microsoft has released a patch that fixes the bug. Since this update is optional, it will not be delivered to user computers automatically. You will have to download it yourself through the “Windows Update” or the Microsoft update catalog.
For Windows 10 20H2 and Windows 10 (2004) the patch KB5001567 is intended , for Windows 10 (1909) – KB5001566 , for Windows 10 (1809) – KB5001568 and for Windows 10 (1803) – KB5001565 . After installing the appropriate update, the problem with blue screens of death when trying to print something will be resolved.
