Microsoft has re-released KB4023057 to prepare more computers for the transition to Windows 10 (2004)

Microsoft has released an update that appears to help users of older versions of Windows 10 migrate to the current Windows 10 (2004) known as Windows 10 May 2020 Update. We are talking about the KB4023057 package, which is delivered to devices with Windows 10 October 2018 Update, as well as newer versions, including Windows 10 November 2019 Update.

The update reportedly improves the stability of Windows Update and frees up disk space on your computer by compressing files. After installing the update, space is freed up, as well as preparing the system for downloading the current version of the software platform Windows 10 May 2020 Update and the next package Windows 10 20H2, which is due to launch this fall.

It’s worth noting that the KB4023057 package was first released in 2018 and since then Microsoft has relaunched it repeatedly, distributing it to users. This time, changes were made to some components, after which the update became available to consumers. After the package is installed, a notification appears stating that Disk Cleanup completed successfully. If the previously mentioned update has already been installed, then after downloading the current version of it, errors may occur. In such a situation, you should first uninstall the old version of the package and then download and install the new one.

Microsoft continues to actively push users to install the current version of Windows 10. According to the resource AdDuplex, this month the share of Windows 10 (2004) has grown from 11.6% to 24.1%. This means that Windows 10 May 2020 Update is installed on a quarter of computers running Windows 10, which is a good result.
