Microsoft has released an optional update KB4571744 for Windows 10 (2004)

Microsoft has begun rolling out an optional update for the Windows 10 (2004) software platform, which brings important fixes with it. Additionally, Microsoft has posted a link to download the offline installers for the KB4571744 package.

After installing the update, the build number of Windows 10 will change to 19041.488. Since it is optional, the package will not automatically deploy to user computers. You can download the KB4571744 update package for Windows 10 (2004) and Windows Server (2004) using the Microsoft Update catalog. Initially, this update was supposed to be released on August 18, but for unknown reasons, Microsoft decided to postpone the release of the patch too early September.

It should be noted that KB4571744 brings a large number of fixes for various kinds of problems. For example, the description says that the developers have fixed a bug due to which, in some cases, users could not resize the window of any application. Addresses an issue that causes Windows Update to hang while checking for updates. Fixed a bug that caused Explorer to hang while viewing or saving images. Fixed a bug due to which defragmentation of SSD drives was started too often.

Since the update is optional, the user is responsible for installing it. However, the fixes it contains will be included in a service pack coming out next week as part of the Patch Tuesday program. For a complete list of fixes and improvements in KB4571744, visit the official Microsoft support page.
