Microsoft has released many fixes for different versions of Windows 10

Microsoft has released a preview update for Windows 10 (20H2) and cumulative updates for Windows (1909) and Windows (1809). As before, such updates contain fixes for various kinds of errors that solve the software platform’s known problems and make it more stable.

For users of the beta version of Windows 10 (20H2), available as part of the Microsoft Insider Program, the developers have released update KB4598291. After the installation of which the build number will change to 19042.782. The update contains dozens of fixes for various software platform components, such as Internet Explorer 11, Microsoft Intune, Azure Active Directory, and more.

The developers have also released cumulative update KB4598298, which does not contain security fixes and is intended for Windows 10 (1909) users. After installing it, the build number will change to 18363.1350. There are not many noticeable fixes in it. Administrators will be able to disable offline Internet Explorer through Group Policy while still using IE mode in Edge. Besides, there will be support for setting certain policies that support IE mode using the Mobile Devices Management service. We also changed how DirectX 12 runtime components are loaded, resulting in improved versioning and updating of those components. For a complete list of Windows 10 (1909) hotfixes, visit the Microsoft support page.

It is worth noting that the KB4598298 update is not intended for installation on computers with Windows 10 (1903) since official support for this version of the OS was discontinued in December last year. The developers recommend updating to a more recent version for users of devices with Windows 10 (1903).

For Windows 10 (1809) users, Microsoft has released cumulative update KB4598296, which will change the build number to 17763.1728. Of the most notable, we note the elimination of the problem due to which in some cases, after exiting from sleep mode, an empty lock screen was displayed. Fixed a bug due to which, in some cases, when trying to open a document from the desktop, an error “Invalid directory name” appeared. A complete list of fixes is available on the corresponding page on the support site.

Separately, Microsoft has released a preview build of Windows 10, numbered 21296, available to Insiders on the Dev (Early Access) channel. In addition to fixes and improvements with this build’s release, the developers have acknowledged several issues related to the new News and Interests widget recently appeared on the taskbar.

One of the most obvious flaws is that the new widget loads the processor by 100% in some cases. The content displayed in the News and Interests window may overlap each other. The information in it is not always promptly updated; the widget cannot always be minimized with a stylus. This suggests that Microsoft has begun large-scale testing of a crude function, which may take more time to complete than originally planned.
