Microsoft made Notepad in Windows 10 a standalone application

Microsoft has released another test build of Windows 10 21H2 (Sun Valley) for Insiders on Dev (Early Access). We are talking about Windows 10 build 21337, which includes several new features and makes the Notepad application a standalone software product available in the Microsoft Store.

In the past year, the developers added several new features to the Notepad application, but, as it turned out, work on it has not been completed. In the future, it will become a standalone application that can be uninstalled from the operating system if necessary or installed from the Microsoft Store. Updates for it will come from the Microsoft Store, not along with updates to the platform itself.

Notepad has been part of the Microsoft software platform since the release of Windows 1.0 and has evolved a lot since then. Now, this product will move to the official Microsoft store and become independent from general OS updates. Thanks to this, developers will act quickly in case of any problems after the launch of updates.

At the moment, it is not known if the announced changes will affect older versions of the OS since they appeared in Windows 10 21H2, which is due to launch this fall. It is worth noting that along with the functional update of Sun Valley, the operating system will receive a lot of innovations, including changes to the user interface.
