Mirror mode, innovations and no sixth obelisk: fresh details of the Demon’s Souls remake

The creative director of SIE Worldwide Studios, Gavin Moore, revealed new details of the Demon’s Souls remake in an interview with several foreign portals, including IGN, GameSpot and Polygon.

As expected, the updated version of the cult action From Software will not have the sixth obelisk: “The discussion was long and difficult. There is no sixth obelisk. There are only five obelisks in the Nexus

Bluepoint Games and SIE Japan Studio will not add difficulty levels to the game or change the artificial intelligence of enemies. According to Moore, when implementing their content, developers try to stay within the original concept.

So, for example, the studios left unchanged the system of global tendencies that affect the state of locations. In the original Demon’s Souls, the mechanics were not really explained, and in the remake, understanding will be facilitated by the updated interface.

But the developers intend to eradicate the dominance of medicinal herbs in the players’ inventory: in the modernized Demon’s Souls, healing items will be more limited in quantity and weigh more than usual.

In addition, the authors added to the central location the ability to save their characters and the option to redistribute stat points. Both operations involve a “cash” contribution.

The camera will also change, which in the original game passed through textures and got stuck wherever it hit. However, if desired, gamers can switch to the original system.

Among other things, the updated Demon’s Souls will have an advanced photo mode (it will pause the game, which was not in the original release) and graphic filters, including the “classic” one.

As for the Fractured Mode trailer, mentioned in the description of the debut trailer, it really remained in the remake – this is a special mode in which the whole world is as if reflected in a mirror.

The remake of Demon’s Souls will go on sale on November 12 exclusively for the PlayStation 5. As part of yesterday’s gameplay trailer, the developers showed several bosses and prettier environments.
