Glonass-K2 is a navigation satellite of a new generation with enhanced functionality. According to the creators, updating the orbital constellation of the Russian GLONASS navigation system with devices of this series will improve the accuracy of its navigation definitions. It was previously reported that the device will last 10 years and provide navigation accuracy of less than 30 cm.

By the way, the launch of the first Glonass-K2 was scheduled for August 7 and, judging by the laconic report of Roscosmos, it took place: “the Soyuz-2.1b launch vehicle was launched from the Plesetsk cosmodrome with a spacecraft in the interests of the Russian Ministry of Defense.” A number of other sources note that it was Glonass-K2 that was launched.
