Monitor demand skyrockets to record levels thanks to self-isolation and telecommuting

The year is not over yet, and analysts already consider it the best for monitor manufacturers. Monitor shipments are expected to grow 5.4% YoY. The greatest benefits will be felt by companies that are focused on ordinary customers rather than corporate customers, in particular ASUS and Samsung, whose products are aimed at players and not only.

The pandemic and related quarantine measures, including the transfer of employees to remote work and students to remote learning methods, have given a significant boost to monitor sales. At the same time, those brands that were focused on corporate customers benefited less in the current situation, for example, HP. Those who have been developing gaming and home monitors for years have received the greatest preference from buyers who have been stuck in their apartments and houses for months.

As for the alignment of forces in the market of monitors by brand, Dell remains the undisputed leader. AOC / Philips monitors came in second place, displacing HP monitors in third place. Samsung has moved up to fourth place immediately from the sixth position, whose premium and gaming monitors, including those curved on VA matrices and massive ones on IPS matrices, are in steady demand among ordinary users. Samsung monitor shipments are expected to grow by an impressive 30% this year.

Taking the lead, Samsung moved Lenovo to fifth and LG Electronics to sixth. Acer and ASUS remained with their own, but there is one caveat. Over the year, deliveries of monitors under the ASUS brand promise to grow much stronger than the industry – by as much as 40%, which is even more than Samsung. ASUS gaming monitors are also warmly received by users, and this is reflected in the “quarantine” preferences of people.
