More than 1 million Oculus Quest 2 VR headsets sold in three months after release

The Oculus Quest 2 went on sale in October last year, during which time Facebook was able to sell over 1 million of these VR glasses. This makes the Oculus Quest 2 the fastest-selling device in its segment. As SuperData points out in its report, the second-generation Oculus Quest was able to surpass the first generation in sales due to its lower cost. In addition, the introduction of new restrictive measures in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic could also fuel interest in the device as a “home attraction”.

In terms of the number of virtual reality headsets sold in the last quarter, Oculus Quest 2 is followed by PlayStation VR (125 thousand devices sold in Q4 2020), Valve Index (61 thousand), and Oculus Rift / Rift S (55 thousand).

During 2020, demand outstripped supply, so Facebook was experiencing supply problems – there were simply not enough devices for everyone. Fortunately, the Oculus Quest 2 can now be purchased from the official website. Prices start at $ 299. SuperData believes that sales will continue to grow and by the end of 2021, the new Oculus headset will have 87% of the market.

The device is a standalone virtual reality headset with its own app store so you can play Oculus Quest 2 without connecting to a PC. Nevertheless, if you have such a need, then you can connect the glasses to your computer using a cable.
