Motorola Edge smartphone without mobile operator will be released on July 31

At the end of April this year, Motorola introduced two new smartphones. In addition to the flagship Edge + based on Snapdragon 865, the Lenovo sub-brand announced a more affordable version of the Edge, which is based on the Snapdragon 765 SoC. Now it became known when this device will be available for sale without any operator tethering.

As indicated on the Motorola website, the Edge smartphone without carrier will go on sale on July 31. At the same time, for the first buyers of the device, the company is ready to provide a good discount on the purchase of new items. Thus, instead of the initial $ 700, the Motorola Edge smartphone will be available for some time at a price of $ 500.

The device can be purchased either through the Motorola website itself or through the company’s official distributors, for example, at Amazon, B&H, or Best Buy. Unfortunately, nothing has been reported about the Russian market yet. However, we have already said that the flagship version of the Motorola Edge + device will appear in the MTS stores. You can already pre-order it. The cost of the flagship is 80 thousand rubles.

As for the more affordable version of the Motorola Edge, it is ready to offer the same 6.7-inch 10-bit OLED display with punch-hole for the front 25-megapixel camera, Full HD + resolution, 90 Hz refresh rate, sub-screen fingerprint scanner and strong curvature to the edges.

The more affordable model has reduced the resolution of the main rear camera module: it is 64 megapixels. The camera retains the ToF sensor, a 16MP module with a wide-angle lens, and an 8MP telephoto lens. However, optical stabilization and support for video recording in 6K UHD formats are gone. Motorola Edge can shoot at a maximum resolution of 4K UHD.

Motorola’s website states that the device has 6 GB of RAM and 256 GB of flash storage. The smartphone is powered by a 4500 mAh battery. It does not have support for wireless charging, like the older model, but it claims support for fast wired 18-W charging.

Although the new product supports 5G networks (thanks to the Snapdragon X52 modem built into the SD765G processor), the Edge has no antennas for frequencies below 6 GHz and 5G mmWave, unlike Edge +, so this model has a theoretical download speed of 4 Gb / s. cannot provide.

Among other things, the device has stereo speakers, 3.5 mm audio jack, Android 10 OS, and support for Bluetooth 5.1.
