In a stunning twist of events, Nara Chandrababu Naidu, the leader of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), found himself in police custody in Nandyala, Andhra Pradesh. This arrest is linked to the alleged AP skill development scam, which had been a topic of significant controversy. Chandrababu’s previous remarks had hinted at his impending arrest, and it unfolded as anticipated, creating a tense atmosphere in the region.
The arrest unfolded during the early hours of a Friday morning when Chandrababu was taken in for questioning regarding his alleged involvement in the skill development scam. His legal team promptly requested copies of the First Information Report (FIR) about the case from both the Special Investigation Team (SIT) and Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officials. However, the police declined to provide a remand report, asserting that Chandrababu’s arrest was based on allegations related to the scam.
In response to the lawyers’ inquiries about the inclusion of Chandrababu’s name in the FIR, the police assured that they would furnish the necessary documents post-arrest. They emphasized that they adhered to the guidelines established in the DK Basu case and promised to provide documents explaining the reasons behind Chandrababu’s detention within 24 hours.
The attempt to arrest Chandrababu was met with heightened tension as thousands of TDP supporters congregated near the RK function hall in Nandyala, where he had been residing. Police officials, including DIG Raghuram Reddy and Nandyala SP Raghura Reddy, were also on the scene. Despite the ongoing commotion, Chandrababu was ultimately taken into custody and transported to Vijayawada. The situation remains highly charged, and further developments are eagerly awaited.
