He also noted that Google had already notified OEMs of the intention to extend the Nearby Share feature through Google Play Services to all devices running Android Marshmallow or higher versions of the OS.

The source also reports that, in addition to Android devices, Nearby Share support will appear on other platforms. It is expected that users of Windows, macOS, and Chrome OS will be able to transfer files using this tool.
