NEO: The World Ends With You does not require familiarity with the original game, and it will take 50 hours to complete
Producer of NEO: The World Ends With You Tetsuya Nomura, in an interview with Japanese portal Famitsu, shared new details of the upcoming action RPG.
Earlier, Nomura called NEO: The World Ends With You a continuation of the anime adaptation of the first part, which debuted in April, but only because he considers the show and the game to be identically equal.
The developer also explained why the sequel’s title does not have a two: the team wanted to give gamers an idea of the creative direction of the project and to reassure those who are not familiar with the original The World Ends With You.
To feel comfortable in NEO: The World Ends With You, it is unnecessary to go through the first part, but there will be many references to it in the sequel.
According to Nomura, NEO: The World Ends With You will take about 50 hours to complete (versus 20-30 hours for the original game). How meticulously it is necessary to explore locations and engage inside activities is not specified.
In addition, Nomura mentioned that the developers intend to significantly improve the combat system: users will command the entire squad using buttons and analog sticks (touch control will not even be on the Switch).
NEO: The World Ends With You goes on sale July 27 this year for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. Over the summer, the game will also appear on PC, but only in the digital Epic Games Store.
