New Monster Hunter Rise Details: Second Demo, Horde Mode & Online Features

Capcom announced the second limited-time demo of Monster Hunter Rise on March 11 and announced the first free update to the base game, due out in late April. During today’s Monster Hunter Digital Event, the development team also shared new information, a trailer, and gameplay for the action RPG coming March 26 on Nintendo Switch.

Users who downloaded the demo released in January will be able to upgrade to the new one, reset the number of available launch attempts. In addition to the four previous quests, the Probe will also include the hunt for Magnamalo.

The aforementioned trailer details the new type of quest in Monster Hunter Rise, a variation on the horde mode. In these quests, the hunters must work with the villagers of Kamura to prepare defenses and guard the Citadel’s barricades from waves of invading monsters.

Monster Hunter Rise’s multiplayer mode will also feature dynamic difficulty scaling, automatically adjusting as new users enter and exit the hunt. And the Hunter Connect feature will allow hunters to create tags with their goals and play style, search for other gamers with the same tags, or invite friends to any tags they have joined.

After completing a quest in multiplayer mode, hunters will be able to like other members of their group and increase the likelihood of finding each other during matchmaking, Capcom said.

Monster Hunter Rise is also coming to PC, but only in early 2022.
