New PC Patch Horizon Zero Dawn Improves Performance, But Not By Much

Guerrilla Games on its website announced the release and shared the details of the fourth update for the PC version of its post-apocalyptic action movie in the open-world Horizon Zero Dawn.

According to the developers, patch 1.04 is intended to eliminate another portion of the causes of crashes, as well as bring with it a number of improvements to the gameplay and the functioning of the project.

Specifically, Guerrilla Games has optimized CPU utilization so that performance can increase by 1-10% (the exact value depends on the characteristics of the CPU and video card).

The patch should also improve performance when changing camera angles in cutscenes and dialogue scenes. This “feature” of the PC version was known before the release.

Among other things, the patch fixes an issue with the display of textures and level geometry after cuts, with mouse sensitivity and aiming, with blinking volumetric effects (for example, fog), and the range of colors in HDR mode.

Recall that with the release of the previous update in the PC version of Horizon Zero Dawn (more precisely, in the region from the plot add-on The Frozen Wilds ), the snow deformation system, which had been absent since the release, appeared.

Horizon Zero Dawn was released in March 2017 on PS4, and in August 2020 reached PC (Steam, Epic Games Store). As Sony admitted, the belated release should prepare PC players to launch the sequel on PS5.
