At the time of publication, Wasteland 3 had received a total of 30 Metacritic ratings, split among the three target platforms as follows: PC (26 reviews), Xbox One (3), and PS4 (1).

Due to the small number of reviews for console editions, only the PC version of Wasteland 3 has an average score – 86%. According to this indicator, the prequel confidently outstripped Wasteland 2 ( 81% ), but slightly yielded to its director’s version ( 87% ).

The reviewers praise Wasteland 3 for its vast scope for role-playing, an abundance of customization options, and criticize it for the lack of significant innovations and technical problems.

The maximum assessment, along with the representative of another edition of the prequel, was given by TheGamer employee: “Wasteland 3 is trying to create a world in which the player exists, and not just acts, and from this point of view, this is a real success. “

A journalist from GamesRadar rated Wasteland 3 two points below: “Wasteland 3 does not contain much new in terms of both CRPG and post-apocalyptic fantasy. However, it is a superbly implemented role-playing game that rewards the user’s interest from start to finish. “

The strictest reviewer presented at Metacritic was the author of the Italian Eurogamer – 70%. The critic called Wasteland 3 a “good RPG” by the “old formula” with a skillfully delivered but “mediocre” storyline.

Previously, the developers published a trailer for Wasteland 3, dedicated to the co-op mode. The joint passage does not provide for crossplay – game partners need to be on the same platform.

The last pre-release demonstration of Wasteland 3 will take place today, August 27, as part of the GamesCom 2020 online exhibition opening ceremony. The broadcast starts at 21:00 Moscow time.

Wasteland 3 will be released on August 28 on PC (Steam, GOG, Windows 10), PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. In addition, from the very first day of the premiere, the project will be available as part of the Xbox Game Pass service.
