Ubisoft is actively exploring virtual reality, presenting at once two new games from the famous universes of Splinter Cell and Assassin’s Creed. The announcement confirms previous rumors that Ubisoft is working with Facebook on two new games.
New Splinter Cell and Assassin’s Creed become Oculus exclusives
Games are being created for Oculus virtual reality headsets (Rift, Quest, and Quest 2, which only became known this week). It is not yet clear if these will be AAA projects like Half-Life: Alyx, or simpler games.
Ubisoft Studio Red Storm Entertainment is leading the development of both projects. The team’s portfolio includes VR games such as Star Trek: Bridge Crew and Werewolves Within. In a long-standing policy for Ubisoft, other studios within the company are also helping with development. We are talking about Ubisoft Dusseldorf, Ubisoft Mumbai, and Ubisoft Reflections.
