The battery is the same unit with a capacity of 71.4 kWh, but it has improved heating characteristics in cold weather conditions. This is claimed to reduce charging times by up to 30% when using a 90kW charger at -10°C. Additional information about the vehicle’s charging status has been added to the instrument panel.

Toyota says the bZ4X now offers an improved real-world range. Energy consumption has been reduced by automatically activating the ECO mode and optimizing the air conditioning through greater use of heated seats and steering wheel and the use of a humidity sensor. The power reserve ranges from 540 to 567 km on the WLTC cycle. The Toyota bZ4X and Subaru Solterra are available with either a single electric motor (FWD) producing 201 hp or two electric motors (AWD) producing a combined output of 215 hp.

The 2024 Toyota bZ4X comes standard with 18-inch wheels, 4-beam LED headlights, a 12.3-inch infotainment display, and flashing hazard lights when the car is in reverse. The older equipment is complemented by heated rear seats, an 8-way power-adjustable front passenger seat, and black-painted wheel arches on the outside. The updated Toyota bZ4X in Japan costs from $36,690 to $43,360.

Subaru focused its model year updates for the Solterra on expanding the Safety Sense package. The model now features advanced Traffic Jam Assist and Lane Change Assist, as well as a new forward collision mitigation feature in the Front Cross Traffic Alert system. Like the Toyota bZ4X, Subaru turns on flashing lights when the car is in reverse. The new shape of the steering wheel is said to improve the visibility of the digital instrument cluster and give the car a sportier look. Prices range from $38,020 to $47,691.
