Nightmare: at a certain stage of development, Bloodborne allowed the Doll to be “killed” once and for all

Blogger and modder Lance McDonald have posted on his YouTube channel a new video dedicated to the cut content from the gothic action Bloodborne from From Software.

MacDonald’s new video is dedicated to the Doll – a character living in the “Hunter’s Dream” location, whose main purpose is to increase the protagonist’s characteristics in exchange for echoes of blood (experience points).

Despite its inanimate character, the Doll is a rather talkative creature. And, as it turned out, in the alpha version of Bloodborne, the heroine had a different voice actress, and lines slightly changed compared to the final assembly.

In particular, the Doll’s pre-release variation spoke of The Hunter’s Dream as a nightmare and called the player sick (Ailing One) – these are echoes of the storyline discarded by the developers about the protagonist’s dangerous illness.

Besides, in the alpha version of Bloodborne, there was an opportunity to “kill” the Doll once and for all – in the release assembly, she returns to “life” every time the hero visits the “Hunter’s Dream.”

In that version, before the “death” at the player’s hands, the Doll expressed regret about what had happened and urged the hunter not to worry about what he had done: the possibility of increasing the characteristics will not go anywhere.

MacDonald’s video today is far from the first in a string of stories about cut content from Bloodborne. Earlier, the blogger revealed unused lines of the Minister of Blood and showed one of the unused locations in detail.
