Most likely there is a defect in the bayonet connection

Just a month after the premium Z8 mirrorless officially went on sale, Nikon announced a recall campaign: it turned out that users simply could not attach a lens to the camera. Nikon does not say exactly what the problem is, but it is most likely a manufacturing defect in the bayonet connection.

Nikon is recalling Z8 mirrorless cameras.

Nikon has said that as part of the recall campaign, it will cover the cost of shipping the Z8 to the service center and back to the user regardless of warranty status, but it’s unlikely that someone’s warranty will expire a month after the camera is purchased. You can check if a particular camera has a bayonet connection problem on the official Nikon website by entering the serial number in the appropriate section.
