The console shortage has played a bad joke with Microsoft and Sony

Analyst firm NPD has published an amazing report on game console sales for November 2020. Surprisingly, the not-so-new Nintendo Switch has been able to outperform the newest Sony PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X in terms of sales in their month of launch.

And we are not talking about Japan at all, but about the North American market. According to NPD statistics, in the US in November, the combined sales of Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite reached 1.35 million. As a result, Nintendo Switch became the leader in US sales for the 24th consecutive month, a new record.

Total sales in the United States since launching three years ago Nintendo Switch reached 6.92 million. In 11 months of 2020, sales of the console exceeded the results of the whole of 2019 by more than 426 thousand units.

Of course, it should be borne in mind that the Sony PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X are in short supply around the world and the demand far exceeds the actual supply and the ability of retailers and manufacturers to ship. It was also recently reported that in the UK, the Sony PlayStation 5 significantly surpassed Nintendo Switch in November sales according to GfK statistics.
