Probably the company will release cases with some new material

It looks like Apple is about to drop its popular leather iPhone cases. It is reported that with the release of the iPhone 15 line, the company will not introduce new such cases.

The reasons from Apple are still unknown. Maybe it’s a concern for the environment, maybe Apple will introduce completely new cases made of some more expensive material that would emphasize the “increased premium” of the new iPhones with their titanium cases.

For example, the AZO Materials resource recalls that many automakers have also abandoned the use of leather in their interiors and are promoting new materials.

Land Rover is considered a leader in non-leather fabrics and sustainability. The Evoque and Velar models feature wool and polyester blends from Kvadrat.

Similarly, Mercedes has been using Artico — a vinyl-based synthetic leather material — in its vehicles since 2003. The material has improved over the years, making it difficult for wearers to tell leather from Artico.

Volvo is following suit and will only offer leather-free interiors. They will use Nordico, a non-leather textile made from recycled plastic bottles, wood fragments from sustainable forests in Sweden and Finland, and corks recycled from the wine industry.

Polestar, their sister brand, will use WeaveTech, a water-based PVC material they developed in-house.
