“No one hates cheaters more than us”: Call of Duty: Warzone creative director upset about the situation in the game
In an interview with VGC, Raven Software Creative Director Amos Hodge revealed that the studio shares fan dissatisfaction with Call of Duty: Warzone cheating, a major problem since launch.
Activision Blizzard recently announced that Call of Duty: Warzone shareware was a huge success, attracting over 100 million players since March 2020. But its popularity has also made it a target for scammers who gain an in-game advantage over other users using special software. Also, there is another problem: some people impersonate cheat sellers with more malicious intent.
Amos Hodge said he is upset at how scammers are spoiling one of his best works.
“Our security service handles the cheaters,” he said. “ And what I’m saying is that we have complaint tools, we ban a ton of people, and no one hates cheaters more than we do. We make this content for players. And while you’re upset that a cheater ruined your match, I’m upset that he ruins one of the best jobs I’ve done in my life. “
He continued, “I made this content for the players, and I know everyone on the team thinks the same way. We put our heart and soul into this project, we have 100 million players, it took a year, this is a huge milestone and one of the best jobs that we have ever done, and the fact that cheaters come and destroy the game worries us more than what -or. I know the security team is doing this and will be releasing updates all the time. “
In February, Activision Blizzard said it had dedicated resources to identify and combat cheats around the clock. Since then, the company has identified hundreds of thousands of cheaters, and on April 13, it announced that the number of blocks exceeded 475 thousand users.
Call of Duty: Warzone is available on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
