Nokia has revised plans to update smartphones to Android 11
Shortly after implementing plans to update Nokia smartphones to the Android 11 operating system in September last year, the corresponding publication was removed from the company’s information sites. Now a new roadmap has appeared on the brand fan forums.
A spokesperson for HMD Global, behind the Nokia brand, has released an updated timetable. The Nokia 8.3 5G and Nokia 3.2 will receive the new OS in the first quarter of 2021. The next in line at the junction of Q1 and Q2 were Nokia 4.2, 2.2, 2.3, and 8.1. Further smartphones Nokia 3.4, 5.3, 5.4, 1 Plus, 1.3, 1.4, and 2.4 will receive an update in the second quarter, that is, by the end of June.
Finally, in the third quarter of the year, the Nokia 6.2, 7.2, and 9 PureView will be updated. Nokia notes that not all users and not all regions will receive new software packages immediately and simultaneously after their release.
Note that according to the old roadmap (in the image below), the first Android 11 should have received Nokia 2.2, 5.3, 8.1, and 8.3 5G – in the fourth quarter of the same year. Most of the models, including Nokia 1.3, 2.3, 2.4, 3.2, 3.4, 4.2, 6.2, and 7.2, were updated in the first quarter of this year. The budget Nokia 1 Plus and the flagship Nokia 9 PureView were planned to be updated no earlier than the second quarter of 2021.
In general, you can see that Nokia basically just shifted the number of updates by a quarter, and for some models, reshuffled the release dates.
