Nokia has updated two-year ultra-budget smartphone 2.1 to the latest software version

HMD Global continues to delight users of its devices with long-term support. Today, the two-year-old budget Nokia 2.1 smartphone has started receiving an update to Android 10 (Go edition). The new firmware will first be available in Asian countries, and its full-scale deployment will be completed in the coming weeks.

As a reminder, Nokia 2.1 was a rather weak smartphone already at the time of its release in 2018. The device is based on the 1.4 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 chipset, which works in conjunction with 1 GB of RAM, which is extremely small even for undemanding tasks. The storage capacity of the smartphone is only 8 GB, expandable with microSD cards. The device hit the market running Android 8.1 Oreo Go Edition.

HMD Global says the distribution of the new firmware should be completed by September 10th. Android 10 (Go edition) will be the first for users in Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Philippines, Sri Lanka, and Thailand, where this device is very popular due to its availability.
