Not yet released Atari VCS was able to launch Cyberpunk 2077, but the result is far from ideal

November saw the launch of Microsoft’s next-generation consoles and Sony Interactive Entertainment, but Atari is also on the cusp of launching its Atari VCS system. It has already fallen into the hands of several buyers, and one of them successfully launched Cyberpunk 2077 on a device. Relatively.

The console was shipped to a few of the most loyal customers who made large donations during the crowdfunding campaign. The Atari VCS is essentially a mini-computer on which you can install an operating system, including Windows, through a special PC mode. Therefore, there are no difficulties with launching Cyberpunk 2077 on the console.

Another thing is that directly playing Cyberpunk 2077 on the Atari VCS is already problematic. Everything is going well as long as you are standing still and not looking around. However, at the very first actions, the performance becomes extremely low, and the frame counter begins to tend to zero (even at the lowest graphics settings).

The Atari VCS, originally known as Ataribox, was introduced in 2017. For its production, they launched a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo, where they raised $ 3 million (with a request of $ 100 thousand) and announced the release date – spring 2018. However, then a series of transfers followed, associated with the internal strife of the console developers. Atari is currently announcing that the full VCS release will take place this spring.
