Now you can play: modders have fixed a bug that led to the crash of The Last of Us for almost 8 years

A small group of modders led by illusion0001 could fix an annoying bug that guaranteed to lead to the crash of the original The Last of Us for PS3 and its updated version for PS4.

The Last of Us
The Last of Us

Since the release of The Last of Us, if an NPC or a partner of the protagonist chopped off the head of an infected enemy, and the user tried to throw an object (for example, a brick) at it, the game would immediately stop working.

A modder with like-minded people suggests that the situation happens because the system, for some reason, does not generate any data when a thrown object comes into contact with a severed head.

As a result of relatively simple manipulations with the register of the game illusion0001, the team managed to “cure” The Last of Us and its remaster from the relegation that pursued them for eight years.

The unofficial patch works on both PS3 (and RPCS3 emulator) and PS4; however, to install the update, those who wish will need the ability to download the modified files to the console.

Illusion0001 will not instruct the enthusiasts interested in the patch: “There are plenty of resources on the Internet on this topic; we will not cover this issue here

The original The Last of Us was released in June 2013 on PS3, and in July 2014 made it to PS4 as a remaster. The rating of both versions on the Metacritic review aggregator is 95 out of 100%.
