NVIDIA Introduces RTX A6000 – Ampere-Powered Graphics Card For Professional Graphics Work

NVIDIA Introduces RTX A6000 – Ampere-Powered Graphics Card For Professional Graphics Work

NVIDIA unveiled the new RTX A6000 Professional Graphics Card at today’s GTC 2020. The novelty is built on the basis of the fresh Ampere architecture and is aimed at professional users in the field of digital information visualization.

With the announcement of a new video card, the manufacturer seems to have abandoned the Quadro brand, which was usually present in the names of products of this class. The professional graphics accelerator RTX A6000 is built on the same 8nm NVIDIA GA102 chip as the GeForce RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 gaming video cards. However, the GPU configuration has not yet been specified, but most likely it will be close to the configuration of the older RTX 3090 chip.

Another major advantage of the professional novelty is that the RTX A6000 is equipped with 48 GB of GDDR6 video memory with support for the 384-bit bus and ECC error correction. In addition, the graphics accelerator received NVLink support for organizing a graphics subsystem from several such video cards.

NVIDIA mentioned that the announced power consumption level of the new product is 300 watts. The card is equipped with one 8-pin auxiliary power connector. The RTX A6000 cooling system uses a tangential fan. The graphics accelerator is equipped with four DisplayPort 1.4 connectors. The manufacturer indicates that the card will occupy two expansion slots in the system.

The company has announced support for GPU virtualization for the RTX A6000 graphics card model through tools such as NVIDIA GRID, NVIDIA Quadro Virtual Data Center Workstation, and NVIDIA Virtual Compute Server.

The manufacturer points out that one of the first who will receive professional graphics cards NVIDIA RTX A6000 will be the French automaker Groupe Renault, as well as the American companies Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates and Digital Domain.

The former provides services in architecture, interior design, programming, and master planning for clients in both the public and private sectors. The second is one of the leading companies in the visual effects industry.
