The first member of the Redmi K50 series, the Redmi K50 Gaming for mobile gamers, was officially unveiled. The raw power of the device is provided by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, while the power supply is provided by a battery that supports 120 watts of fast charging. In addition, this is the first smartphone to debut in collaboration with Xiaomi and the Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team.

Let’s move from the outside in with the presentation of the novelty! Like last year’s predecessor, the K40 Gaming, this device has a pair of triggers that can make the gaming experience even more intense. Xiaomi’s CyberEngine X-axis haptic vibration motor and JBL-tuned stereo speaker pair also add to that particular experience. The novelty was given a glass cover on both the front and back, while the side frame was cast in metal.

The screen of the Redmi K50 Gaming has a 6.67-inch screen size, which is a 10-bit panel based on AMOLED technology with a Full HD + resolution of 120 Hz and touch sensitivity of 480 Hz. Scratch protection is provided by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.

The real curiosities are obviously inside the smartphone, of course. This year’s big gun, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, is powered by a device designed for gamers, along with a dual steam chamber cooling system developed to keep the chipset’s performance consistent. The cooling management design starts with a copper radiator located directly on top of the chipset. In addition, the Chinese manufacturer used double graphite sheet, stainless steel, and mesh elements for the best possible heat dissipation. Other notable features include support for the NFC module and Wi-Fi 6E connections.

For gamer mobiles, the cameras get less spotlight, but we won’t be lost if we have to capture an important moment between two gaming opportunities. For this purpose, we can use the smartphone’s primary camera equipped with a 64-megapixel Sony IMX686 sensor, which is complemented by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle and a 2-megapixel telephoto sensor. And on the front, a 20-megapixel Sony IMX596 unit is responsible for taking self-portraits.

The mobility of the Redmi K50 Gaming is ensured by a 4700 mAh battery that supports 120 watts of fast charging. According to data released by Xiaomi, using the right charger can completely recharge a mobile battery that has been discharged into a bump in just 17 minutes. At the event, where the novelty was presented, an extra demonstration was held, during which the device was charged in 37 minutes while a MOBA game was running.

The Redmi K50 Gaming comes pre-installed with an Android 12 operating system, with the company’s self-developed MIUI 13 user interface with a unique look and a bunch of extra features. The novelty is available in blue, silver, and black, and there will even be a Mercedes AMG F1 edition. If we can get 8 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128 GB of UFS 3.1 storage, the device could be about $ 520 (~ 162 thousand HUF), as long as we’re in China at the start of distribution on February 18th.

If you want a little more, there will be a 12/128 GB version for the $ 567 local currency, and the most massive variant will be the 12/256 GB, which the manufacturer will be wasting for $ 615. The limited-edition Mercedes AMG F1 will be equipped with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage and will be available for $ 662 in Chinese money. The details of the international distribution have not been discussed yet, but it is possible that the top mobile will come to us under a different name.
