So far, only a small number of games support the technology
Microsoft has kept its promise to support games with Dolby Vision HDR on the next generation game consoles – Xbox Series X and Series S. So far, the function is available only to a small number of users and in test mode.
On Xbox Series X began testing Dolby Vision HDR in games
Owners of new consoles participating in the Xbox Insider Alpha testing program noticed Dolby Vision activation in games for Xbox Series X and Series S in Build 2104. The technology is currently supported by a small number of games, including Borderlands 3, Gears 5, Halo: Master Chief Collection (Halo: The Master Chief Collection) and Wreckfest.
Test takers are pleased with the innovation and note that Dolby picture quality outperforms regular HDR10, likely due to the dynamic data that adjusts HDR visuals frame by frame.
The company confirmed to Forbes that it had started testing and promised a massive launch “in the near future” for all Xbox Series X and Series S consoles, but did not give an exact date.
