Recall that Yamamoto confirmed his departure from SIE Japan Studio in mid-March this year. In fact, the developer’s farewell to the Japanese company took place at the end of February.

In the March announcement, Yamamoto mentioned that after the “parting” with Sony, he would be able to start “making games for any platform,” but until now, he did not elaborate on his plans.

As it turned out, the time passed since leaving SIE Japan Studio Yamamoto spent preparing for the new studio’s founding. And so, on March 31, 2021, a company called EPIGRAsm was born.

“I apologize if this sounds like an April Fool’s joke, but on March 31st, I founded EPIGRAsm. Having the opportunity to live the things I love, from now on, I would like to make “life with loved ones” my fundamental principle. I will continue to give my best in all areas, including game development! ” – shared Yamamoto.

At SIE Japan Studio, Yamamoto served as External Development Leader and Executive Producer. Over the 25 years spent within the Sony Group, the developer has worked on Bloodborne, Tokyo Jungle, Rain, Soul Sacrifice, Freedom Wars, and other franchises.

As a reminder, SIE Japan Studio does not exist in its usual form from today. In its place, Team Asobi was formed, reorganized around the team responsible for creating Astro’s Playroom.
