OnePlus showed a concept smartphone that can change the color of the case
OnePlus showed off a curious experimental smartphone, the 8T Concept, capable of changing the colour of the back panel of the case in response to certain events or signals from sensors.
The device uses ECMF technology, or Electronic Color, Material and Finish. Its essence boils down to the use of a special film based on metal oxide, which can change colour under the influence of voltage. In particular, in its current view, the colour switches from dark blue to silver.
For the proposed solution, OnePlus sees several practical uses. So, by changing the colour, the smartphone will be able to inform the user about, say, missed calls or received messages.
In addition, the colour change can be synchronized with the wearer’s breathing rhythm. In this case, the use of a special millimetre wave sensor is required. Such a bundle will allow you to implement additional fitness functions.
However, while the OnePlus 8T Concept is an exclusively experimental development. The company does not specify whether it plans to use the proposed technology in commercial devices in the foreseeable future.
