Over 15,000 changes, a new class and useful improvements: the first details of the fourth major patch for Baldur’s Gate 3

According to Larian Studios CEO Swen Vincke, the upcoming patch will include over 15,000 changes – more than all previous updates combined.

During the broadcast, Vincke mentioned that the patch would be available today, but in the trailer for one of the main announcements (about it a little later), the show has a less specific wording – “soon.

The main innovation of the fourth patch will be the next class – the druid. According to the developers, a character in this category is something between a wizard and a priest.

Druids in the pre-release version of Baldur’s Gate 3 will have access to 30 spells, including transforming into animals – a badger, cat, bird, polar bear, wolf, bull, and a huge spider have been confirmed as part of the broadcast.

The result of an action in Baldur’s Gate 3 depends on the die. With the release of a new patch, the game will have an option to increase the chances of success up to 85% after the first unsuccessful throw.

Besides, Larian Studios reworked the existing cutscenes (lighting, camera angles, animations) and added new ones, such as conversations with the dead.

Also, with the fourth major update in Baldur’s Gate 3, they will simplify the torch’s use, add the ability to influence magic on characters through their portraits, and the function of escape from the battle (individually for each hero).

In terms of multiplayer, the developers have increased the stability of the connection, accelerated the process of matchmaking, and introduced the ability to peep in the inventory (and even steal from there) to co-op partners.

Vincke gave a gameplay demo of the upcoming Baldur’s Gate 3 patch at the end of the live stream. The full Panel From Hell 2 footage is attached above.

Baldur’s Gate 3 has been in Early Access on PC (Steam, GOG) and Google Stadia since October 2020. The release of the game on consoles in Larian Studios does not exclude; however, they are occupied with already confirmed target platforms..”
