It supports LTO-8 cartridges
The OWC range has been expanded to include the OWC Mercury Pro LTO desktop tape drive. It features Thunderbolt 3 and supports LTO-8 cartridges. One such cartridge can hold 12 TB uncompressed or up to 30 TB compressed. Compatibility inherent in LTO allows the use of 6 TB LTO-7 cartridges, and in the future – LTO-9 cartridges. In terms of the unit cost of storage, the tape is much more attractive than even hard drives, not to mention SSDs, and the storage life of information is declared equal to 30 years. In terms of speed, the recording is performed at speeds up to 360 MB / s (with compression – up to 900 MB / s).
