Phasmophobia Creator To Review Early Access Plans Due To The Game’s Unexpected Success

The founder and sole employee of the indie studio Kinetic Games, working under the pseudonym Dknighter, in an interview with IGN spoke about plans to develop his co-op horror Phasmophobia.

Recall that Phasmophobia was released in early access on Steam in mid-September, and already in early October attracted the attention of well-known streamers and began to rapidly gain popularity among ordinary players.

As a result, by the time this material was published, Phasmophobia had already sold more than 2 million copies, and the peak of concurrent players recently exceeded 110 thousand.

According to Dknighter, such a resounding success was not part of his plans: “Initially, I expected early access to be short-lived: I will add a couple of maps, types of ghosts and equipment

Now, under pressure from the expectations of players that have increased against the background of the popularity of Phasmophobia, the developer decided to “reconsider their plans for the future” of the project and, apparently, keep it in early access longer than expected.

At this stage, Dknighter is going to focus on fixing bugs and improving existing functions: you can track the progress of integrating certain features into Phasmophobia through the Trello service.

Phasmophobia is a four-person horror game. Players need to use special devices to collect data about the ghosts inhabiting the location and try not to get caught by them. In this case, ghosts react to the user’s speech.
