In addition to Phison, YMTC’s ecosystem partners include Taiwan-based Adata and Silicon Motion
Phison Electronics, a flash controller manufacturer, announced support for 3D NAND flash from Yangtze Memory Technologies (YMTC).
Phison controllers support YMTC 3D NAND flash memory
According to Phison, all of its controllers support 64-layer 3D NAND YMTC flash memory. In addition, Phison promises to support 128-layer 3D NAND flash memory, which recently launched YMTC.
The Phison and YMTC partnership will begin with consumer solutions and then expand to higher-end devices, including drives for enterprise servers and embedded industrial systems.
The Chinese company YMTC unveiled its proprietary 3D NAND Xtacking flash memory architecture in October 2017, and in September 2019, it began mass production of 64-layer TLC 3D NAND chips. The controlling stake in YMTC is owned by the state-owned Chinese company Tsinghua Unigroup.
The source claims that in addition to Phison, the Taiwanese companies Adata and Silicon Motion are among the “ecosystem partners” of YMTC.
