Photo of the day: view of the huge Hurricane Genevieve from the ISS

The US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has published images of Hurricane Genevieve, which formed a few days ago over the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Mexico.

The tropical storm was captured by members of a long expedition aboard the International Space Station (ISS). Now in orbit are Russian cosmonauts Anatoly Ivanishin and Ivan Wagner, as well as NASA astronaut Christopher Cassidy, who took the photograph.

In the photographs presented, the Genevieve spiral is clearly visible. The wind speed inside the hurricane reached 210 km / h. Unfortunately, the element has already claimed the lives of several people, including a fifteen-year-old girl.

The Genevieve brought stormy winds and torrential rains to the regions on its way. Photos from the ISS provide an idea of the scale of the natural phenomenon.

We add that on October 14 another long-term expedition will go to the ISS. The prime crew includes Roscosmos cosmonauts Sergei Ryzhikov, Sergei Kud-Sverchkov, and NASA astronaut Kathleen Rubins. The backup crew consists of Roscosmos cosmonauts Oleg Novitsky, Peter Dubrov, and NASA astronaut Mark Vande Hai. For the first time, the Soyuz MS manned spacecraft is to fly according to an ultrashort two-turn scheme.
