Shaymin is one of the Mysterious Pokémon and can be found in the Switch remakes of Diamant and Perl in the flower paradise, which you can enter earlier thanks to a glitch.
With the release of Pokémon Radiant Diamond and Shining Pearl, the Pokémon hunt season begins again in the Sinnoh region. The rare Pokémon, in particular, are difficult to catch because their appearance is usually conditional. But an ambitious Pokémon trainer is now showing how you can get to the plant Pokémon Shaymin faster.
Glitch for surfing on land
Usually, Shaymin doesn’t get catchable until very late in the game. But with the help of a glitch, YouTuber PokeTips managed to unlock the Shaymin a little earlier than expected. In a video he explains which steps you have to take to get to Shaymin in the flower paradise:
This is how the surf glitch works: In order to catch Shaymin earlier, you must have become a Sinnoh Champ and have the National Pokédex. You then have to follow the steps below:
- Save your score and wait by the water on Route 224.
- Press the A button several times as soon as the NPC Black Belt Christoph has an eye on you.
- Wait for the fight and see if the trick worked.
If everything went correctly, you can use surfers and have to surf the route shown in the video. You have to save again on the stairs to get one floor higher and be able to float in the air.
Honestly earning Shaymin
How do I usually get Shaymin? Actually, you first need Prof. Eich’s letter to get to Shaymin. But you don’t get this regularly in the game but through an upcoming event. Only with this letter will you be able to enter the groyne path on route 224 and get to the flower paradise.
After you have caught Shaymin, you can pick up the item “Gracidea” from a blonde woman in order to transform Shaymin into his zenith shape. You can find the lady in the city of Flori near the wooden sign at the Pokémon Center. Through the shape change, Shaymin is also given the flight type and can learn further attacks.

If you plan to catch Shaymin using the glitch, you should hurry. Nintendo will sooner or later get wind of the glitch and remove it from the game with a subsequent patch. Keep in mind, however, that the glitch is not safe for your score.
