This will make life harder for attackers.
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has urged everyone to turn off their smartphones at least once a day for five minutes as a cybersecurity measure. Technical experts agree with him.
Albanese said the country needed to act proactively to prevent cyber risks and announced the appointment of Australia’s first National Cyber Security Coordinator.
We need to mobilize the private sector, we also need to mobilize consumers. We are all responsible. It’s simple, turn off your phone every night for five minutes. Do this while brushing your teeth or doing something else.

Previously, the US National Security Agency issued recommendations on mobile security best practices, which included rebooting smartphones once a week to prevent hacking.
Experts believe that in some cases, a reboot can actually help. Dr. Priyadarsi Nanda, Senior Lecturer at the University of Technology Sydney who specializes in cybersecurity developments, said that rebooting the phone regularly can minimize the risk of being hacked, as it forcefully closes any applications and processes running in the background that could maliciously track users or collect data.
If there is a process started by an attacker, turning off the phone breaks the chain. Even if this only happens for a while, it will certainly frustrate the hacker. It may not protect you completely, but rebooting can make it harder for hackers.
