Producer Yakuza would like to release a remaster of Binary Domain
Speaking with the French edition of GameBlog, Yakuza series producer Daisuke Sato revealed that he would like to make an updated version of the Binary Domain shooter, which Ryu Ga Gotoku and Sega published in 2012.
YakuzaThird-person shooter Binary Domain was released on PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 and received critical acclaim, but the game’s sales disappointed Sega. However, this did not prevent the project from finding its fans, who still dream of a sequel.
When asked if Binary Domain could be made available on current generation consoles, Sato replied, “Personally, I would love to [laughs]. If possible, I would like to make a few changes that I did not make and maybe redo some parts. “
Besides, according to Sato, the team is once again ready to experiment with new genres. Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio recently released Yakuza: Like a Dragon. The main series is to feature turn-based combat. If a certain genre is suitable for the project, then the studio is ready to study the issue and present it as needed.
“Third-person shooter was also the genre that best matched Binary Domain. For RGG Studio, the dramatic story is at the center of everything, so the genre is chosen in such a way as to fit the development of the story best, ” Sato added.
Finally, Sato would like to bring offshoots of the Yakuza series to the West, currently only available in Japan. According to the producer, the recent success of Ghost of Tsushima could make it easier to sell samurai-themed games.
