Tvpredictions reports that approximately 1.5 million Americans have appeared on Blu-ray players, while there are five times fewer adherents of HD DVD. These data were collected by the research firm Digital Entertainment Group.

PS3 wins in the war between HD DVD and Blu-ray
Representatives of Digital Entertainment Group noted that out of the above 1.5 million, the number of brand new Blu-ray players does not exceed 100 thousand units – of course, the remaining 1.4 million are included in the set of PlayStation 3 consoles.
As for HD DVD players, about 300 thousand such devices are currently sold in North America, and here the picture looks a little different. External HD DVD drives for the Xbox 360 console are approximately half that amount.
