PUBG Lite, shareware version of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, to close at the end of April

In 2019, Krafton (formerly PUBG Corp.) launched PUBG Lite, a stripped-down, shareware version of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds battle royale. However, recently the developers decided to close it without giving any reason.

Post-Krafton says: “We are incredibly grateful to the loyal army of fans for their love and support PUBG LITE. Hopefully, during the difficult days of the COVID-19 pandemic, our PUBG Lite helped players not get bored of self-isolation. Unfortunately, after a long debate, we had to make a difficult decision and stop supporting the project. Our journey is coming to an end. We are sorry to inform you that PUBG LITE’s support will end on April 29, 2021 (UTC). ”

Krafton has already removed links to download the shareware version from the official website. Besides, the company indicated that the support service for PUBG Lite users would close on May 29.

The royal battle in this format probably did not bring the expected profit to the developers, and they decided to abandon it. True, without accurate statistics, one can only guess about this.
