Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 is weaker than Kirin 9000 in terms of graphics performance

The first test results of the upcoming flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 chipset look promising. Today the authoritative tech blog Digital Chat Station published a comparison of the test results of the new Qualcomm processor with its predecessor Snapdragon 865, as well as with the flagship Huawei Kirin 9000 in the Master Lu benchmark.

It is worth noting that the new chip will retain the 1 + 3 + 4 core layout, and the frequency of the most productive core will be 2.84 GHz, which corresponds to the Snapdragon 865 and below the same figure for the Snapdragon 865+. Nevertheless, the new chip will significantly outperform both its predecessor and the rather successful Kirin 9000.

But this only applies to processor cores. In terms of graphics performance, the Kirin 9000 and Snapdragon 875 have almost full parity, with a slight margin in favor of Kirin. The Chinese chipset contains a powerful 24-core GPU Mali-G78 MP24, while Snapdragon uses Adreno graphics.

The Snapdragon 875 is expected to be officially unveiled in a month. In addition, it was previously reported that Xiaomi has agreed with Qualcomm to release a special version of the chipset that will be used for the upcoming flagship Mi 11. It is also expected that along with the Snapdragon 875, Qualcomm will show a stripped-down flagship Snapdragon 870 chipset.
