Even to a few
Radeon RX 7900 graphics cards are characterized by one feature: they consume a lot of power in standby mode when multiple monitors are connected to them. New tests have shown that connecting monitors that support variable refresh rates (Adaptive Sync, FreeSync, or G-Sync) sometimes eliminates this problem with adapters.
The feature was discovered by ComputerBase resource specialists who tested new software. Interestingly, past-generation AMD adapters also began to consume much less power, and this also applies to a single monitor with VRR.
Radeon RX 7900 graphics cards now consume four to five times less power when connected to monitors with VRR
In the case of the RX 7900, consumption is reduced by several times: by 70–80%. It also decreases when working with such monitors, but not so much.
But Nvidia adapters in such modes, on the contrary, begin to consume more.
