The first iPhone began to sell exactly 16 years ago – June 29, 2007
Auction LCG Auctions auctioned the original iPhone 2007 release in pristine original packaging. What makes this offer particularly interesting is the fact that this is the first original iPhone with 4 GB of internal memory put up for sale in many months.
Initially, the original iPhone was offered with both 4 GB and 8 GB of memory. The 8 GB model proved to be much more popular. As a result, Apple discontinued the 4GB model after only a few months, offering a higher-capacity 16GB version instead.
Because the original 4GB iPhone was only available for a limited time, it is the rarest of the first generation iPhone models.
Rare original iPhone intend to auction for almost 9 million rubles
LCG Auctions founder Mark Montero said:
Based on our recent record sales and the fact that the 4GB model is probably 20 times rarer than the 8GB version, we wouldn’t be surprised if it sets a new selling price record.
According to LCG Auctions, the seller was part of the original engineering team at the time of the iPhone’s launch, and has a confirmation letter of origin for the device. The 4GB model was originally $499, while the 8GB version was $599. Now the lot is expected to be sold at a price of 50 to 100 dollars (4,450,500–8,866,000 rubles) with an initial price of 10,000 (890,100 rubles).
