13% returned glasses to stores immediately
It looks like companies still can’t come up with smart glasses that people really wanted to use all the time. More than 90% of buyers of Ray-Ban Stories smart glasses by Meta* (at the time of the announcement it was also called Facebook**) are reported to have stopped using the device on a permanent basis.
Internal company documents cited by The Wall Street Journal indicate that only about 27,000 eyewear wearers still use them regularly. Regularity here refers to use every month, so it’s not clear how often the glasses are actually used. At the same time, from September 2021 to February 2023, the company sold about 300,000 points. That is, more than 90% of users turned out to be uninteresting in the device even in the perspective of a year and a half.

In addition to the fact that the device does not do much, users have experienced a number of problems, including problems with sound, voice commands, poor battery life, and importing media from other devices. 13% of buyers almost immediately returned glasses to stores.
Despite the very depressing statistics, Meta* wants to release the second generation of glasses with improved features, cameras and autonomy. They are expected next year.
The Meta company is recognized as extremist in Russia and banned.
