Reporters shared their impressions of The Mercenaries mode in Resident Evil Village and showed new gameplay
The IGN portal, as part of its regular IGN First column, has presented an exclusive video with impressions of personal acquaintance with the arcade mode The Mercenaries (“Mercenaries”) in Resident Evil Village.
Recall that the return of the “Mercenaries” in the Resident Evil series became known from the April issue of the Resident Evil Showcase news program. At the same time, Capcom presented the first details of the regime and gave a short demo.
Since then, IGN journalists managed to visit the Osaka office of Capcom, where they got the opportunity to get acquainted with the location in The Mercenaries, which is located in the village from the story campaign.
In “Mercenaries,” players have to go through levels for a while, killing enemies and picking up power-ups, and between sections – spend money earned in battles to buy supplies and improve weapons from a fat merchant nicknamed the Duke.
As IGN notes, personal preference plays a key role in the mode: sometimes, it makes sense to focus on your favorite weapon and sell the rest. It takes courage to take this step, but The Mercenaries reward the brave.
Blue orbs are scattered throughout the arenas in the Mercenaries. They give access to permanent bonuses, which, together with weapon upgrades, allow you to create a character sharpened for a particular style of play (for example, with an emphasis on close combat).
The release of Resident Evil Village is expected on May 7 this year on PC (Steam), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, and Google Stadia. The Mercenaries mode will become available for review after completing the main story campaign.
