Rivian R1T was more expensive than Tesla Cybertruck, and R1S is only slightly cheaper than Tesla Model X
Rivian Automotive has finally announced pricing for its electric pickup and SUV – the vehicles are called R1T and R1S respectively. A full-fledged configurator will work on the official website on November 23, and now the prices for the versions that will arrive first have been announced. Judging by the prices, Tesla has nothing to fear: the R1T is unlikely to become a serious competitor to Cybertruck. How the R1S can barely compete with the Model X.
Rivian electric pickup and SUV pricing announced. Tesla has nothing to worry about
If the top Cybertruck (with three electric motors and a range of over 800 km on a single charge) can be bought in the USA for $ 70,000, then the cost of the Rivian R1T is from $ 75,000. The R1T SUV is $ 2,500 more expensive. These prices are for the Launch Edition. New items in this design will go on sale next year: R1T Launch Edition is promised in June, R1S Launch Edition – in August.
The very first version, traditionally, has rich (but not maximum) equipment. The promised seats with ventilation, natural wood trim, special color. The cruising range in both cases should be about 490 km. Not a lot, given the data Tesla claims for Cybertruck. But already in the database, the autonomous driving system Rivian Driver + is declared, the requirement of which is not the need to keep your hands on the steering wheel.
More technical details will appear on November 23, but according to data published on the Web earlier, the top version of these electric vehicles will have a power plant with four electric motors with a total power of up to 800 hp, and the maximum speed will be limited to 200 km / h. Acceleration to 96 km / h will take about 3 seconds.
